Coloradothirtheeners.com is owned and operated by Jeff Burch, of Delta, Colorado. It began from a love of climbing the mountains. Jeff calls it his hobby-gone-bad…. Looking at the skyline of mountains south of Montrose, where he lived at the time, he just wondered what all the names were. He began researching the names and elevations of the peaks and recording them on a set of enlarged 35 mm prints. At the same time, evolving through a series of cameras, he finally found right combination to allow printing at large scale.
Jeff published the first poster “View Looking South from Montrose Colorado” (right image) and was amazed at how popular they were. From there he began looking for other scenes of mountains that lots of people see and want to know the names of. He is still looking for mountain panoramas that people see and want to know the names of, so if you know one let him hear from you.
In the process of trying to make labeled posters be pretty pictures, Jeff has managed to take some beautiful pictures of Colorado. However, Jeff says, “There are a million pretty pictures of Colorado. My stock in trade, my niche, is the information I provide. I work really hard to make the information on my images definitive and correct.”
